Cuentos de fantasmas. Persistencia espectral de los centros de detención y tortura chilenos

Los centros de detención y tortura de la dictadura chilena han desaparecido o están desapareciendo. Con ello, las memorias de dichos lugares parecen asimismo perderse. Sostendremos aquí, no obstante, que la desaparición física de los lugares no implica la pérdida de todo rastro, puesto que su recuerdo subsiste a través de otros medios, como la tradición oral. Exploramos, en particular, la posibilidad de que sean los relatos de actividad sobrenatural, los así llamados “cuentos de fantasmas”, los que sirvan de escenario público de la memoria social, permitiendo que esta sea convocada.

This study is an invitation to reflect on issues that fall within the area of collective memory, an area that awaits further in-depth analysis. More specifically, this article is a proposal of a broader study on cultural landscape and places of memory than that which is dominant in the sociological literature. In particular, I examine the relationship between the inhabitants of the Polish “Western Lands” and the material German heritage of the cities in which they happen to live. The development of Finnish museums over the last forty years

The focus of this article is the development of Finnish museums since the 1970s, when the Ministry of Education started to understand the social benefits of museums as social memory organizations with activities of research and education. At this point in time the Ministry began actively developing the preconditions for museum work, the main ”tools” being several political museum committees which created a museum hierarchy and network, ensured state subsidy through museum acts, established university studies of museology, and gave support to the Finnish Museums Association.

Translational animal models for studying post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) are valuable for elucidating the poorly understood neurobiology of this neuropsychiatric disorder. These models should encompass crucial features, including persistence of PTSD-like phenotypes triggered after exposure to a single traumatic event, trauma susceptibility/resilience and predictive validity. Here we propose a novel arousal-based individual screening (AIS) model that recapitulates all these features. In the article, I present the content and the context of the foundation story of Wroclaw – created after 1945 in one of the largest and most destroyed cities which joined Poland after World War II (Polish Western and Northern Territories). The analyzed empirical material consists of personal documents – statements of Wroclaw residents written and submitted in 1966 for the competition entitled: “What does the city of Wrocław mean to you”. Celem artykulu jest przedstawienie wątkow pamieci spolecznej, ktore z jednej strony opierają sie na indywidualnym, potocznym doświadczeniu jednostki, z drugiej umieszczane są w spolecznie wynegocjowanych ramach pamieci zbiorowej. Artykul ten wpisuje sie rowniez w dyskusje nad miejscami pamieci i ich mozliwą treścią – wykraczającą poza podtrzymujące pamiec zbiorową muzea, pomniki, upamietniające tablice czy cmentarze – realizowaną w codziennym zyciu jednostki. Przedmiotem analiz jest pamiec spoleczna mieszkancow Wroclawia, ich konstrukcje światow spolecznych opierające sie na przestrzeni miasta obciązonej obcą kulturowo „pamiecią nieobecnych”.

The article draws upon life-story research with respondents from Russian and Romany communities in Latvia. The aim of this article is the introducing of the phenomenon of Polish trade tourism , which took place between the years 1956 - 1989. Working in the sort of interpretative sociology (or more precisely - the phenomenology of Alfred Schutz’s) the ways of experiencing contemporary commercial travel that exist in the social memory were presented. Qualitative research (conducted by the episodic interview) revealed a multitude of ways of constructing memories of the trade tourism and at the same time revealing intersubjectivity of experiences. W artykule śledzę taktyki przywoływania (i unikania) wcześniejszych nazw współczesnego Wrocławia jako elementu tworzenia jego dziedzictwa kulturowego. Na przykładzie opracowań historycznych i wykorzystując metodę analizy dyskursu, pokazuję mechanizmy kreowania różnie akcentowanych przeszłości miasta. Opierając się na użyciu nazwy historycznej (na przykład Breslau) czy konsekwentnie tylko współczesnej (Wrocław), wskazuję, że za strategią wyboru nazwy stoją odmienne, ideologicznie uwarunkowane, narracje.
